The biggest reason for creating a smart factory is to implement sensors and sensor connectivity. Sensors plugged into the right places along with the production floor can give factory supervisors valuable data in real-time and help them control processes that exceed predefined parameters and shut them down. Alerts from these sensors can be sent to the desktop in the supervisor’s cabin or on his smartphone so that he has access to the information from anywhere.

In this paper, we will discuss IoT use cases from the manufacturing industry. We will focus on how sensors can help companies create a safer factory environment, meet compliance standards and improve worker safety.
