Product Overview
The MAX514BCWI+ is a CMOS, quad, 12bit serial input multiplying digital to analogue converter (DAC) in 28 pin WSOIC package. It contains four 12bit R-2R multiplying DACs each with serial-in parallel-out shift register, DAC register and control logic. The 3-wire serial interface design of MAX514 minimizes number of package pins and internal level translators, so it uses less board space and dissipates less power (10mW maximum) than parallel interface devices. The MAX514 minimizes digital-noise feed-through from its logic input pins to its analogue output when used with microprocessors (µPs) with serial port. This device uses low tempco thin film resistors which are laser trimmed to ±1LSB linearity with gain accuracy better than ±1.5LSB. It is specified with a +5V power supply and used in µP controlled systems, arbitrary waveform generation (AWG), automatic test equipments, digital offset/gain adjustment, motion control systems and programmable amplifiers/attenuators.
- Supply voltage range is 4.5V to 5.25V
- Operating temperature range from 0°C to 70°C
- Low integral nonlinearity (INL) of ±1LSB and low differential nonlinearity (DNL) of ±1LSB
- Serial interfacing also simplifies opto coupler or transformer isolated applications
- Full scale error (gain error) of ±2.5LSB at TA = 25°C (using internal RFB)
- Full scale temperature coefficient of ±1ppm/°C (using internal RFB)
- DC power supply rejection of ±0.001%/%
- Current settling time of 0.25μs
- Power supply current of 2000μA (all digital inputs are at VIL or VIH) & 20μA (at 0 or VDD)
- All logic inputs are TTL and CMOS compatible
