The MAX630ESA+ is a CMOS micropower step-up switching regulator in 8 pin NSOIC package. The CMOS DC to DC regulator is designed for simple, efficient, minimum size DC to DC converter circuits in the 5mW to 5W range. The MAX630 provides all control and power handling function a 1.31V bandgap reference, an oscillator, a voltage comparator and a 375mA N-channel output MOSFET. Low-current operation ensures high efficiency even in low power battery-operated systems. The MAX630 is compatible with most battery voltages, operating from 2V to 16.5V. The device is pin compatible with the Raytheon bipolar circuits, RC4191/2/3 while providing significantly improved efficiency and low voltage operation. It is used in +5V to +15V DC to DC converters, high efficiency battery powered DC to DC converters, +3V to +5V DC to DC converters, 9V battery life extension, uninterruptible 5V power supplies, 5mW to 5W switch mode power supplies.
- Supply voltage range is 2V to 16.5V, operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C
- Logic level input shuts down the regulator to less than 1μA quiescent current
- On-board drive capability is 525mA (peak), comparator is also provided for low-battery detection
- Output voltage accuracy is ±1.5%
- Low battery detector
- High efficiency of 85%
- Operating current is only 70μA and is nearly independent of output switch current or duty cycle
- Switch current of 150mA at V3 = 400mV, TA = +25°C
- Line regulation of 0.08% VOUT (0.5V0 <lt/> VS <lt/> V0)
- Load regulation of 0.2% VOUT (VS = +5V, PLOAD = 0 to 150mW) at TA = +25°C
